Get a QuoteWe migrate enterprise reporting estates onto Power BI through a parallel run, not a flag day. Your finance, sales, and operations teams keep their old reports until every number on the new Power BI report matches the source to the cent. Then we cut over.

Reporting estates migrated to Power BI
Legacy reports converted and certified
Parallel run match to source numbers
Of downtime during cutover
Your team's time investment across a full Power BI migration is approximately 3 to 5 hours per week: one report inventory call, async sign-off on certified measures, and parallel run validation. We handle source extraction, semantic model build, DAX rewrites, row-level security, gateway, and publishing.

“We renewed three legacy business intelligence seats last year for two-hundred thousand. The reports they produce still get rebuilt in Excel before the board meeting because no one trusts the numbers. We are paying twice for the same answer, and getting it late.”

Tick what you already have. The score updates live and the recommended migration path adapts. We auto-tick a typical mid-market estate every 4 seconds so you can watch the model think. Click any item to pause and score your own situation.
Pick your source. Each migration page walks the exact path from your legacy tool to a governed Power BI estate, including the artefacts you keep, the ones you retire, and the parallel run window before cutover.

Every Redefine migration ships these six artefacts. You sign off the inventory, the key performance indicator dictionary, and the final cutover. We do everything in between.
We pull every report, every dashboard, every Excel file from your legacy estate. Each one gets one of three verdicts: retire because no one opens it, rebuild because it is business critical, or replace because there is a better Power BI native answer.

Before a single DAX measure is written we agree the formula. Gross margin includes which costs. Annual recurring revenue uses which contract dates. Days sales outstanding uses which accounts receivable bucket. One signed document. One source of truth.

Star schema. Conformed dimensions. Time intelligence built once and reused everywhere. Every DAX measure ships with a description, a unit, and a sign-off owner. The model is published as a certified dataset so every downstream report uses the same numbers.

For 30 days before cutover we run both estates side by side. Every executive number on the Power BI report is matched to the legacy source. Variances over zero point one percent are investigated and signed off before we touch the legacy renewal.

No more security through hidden tabs. Row-level security is enforced inside the semantic model and tied to your existing Azure Active Directory groups. Region managers see only their region. Legal entity heads see only their entity. Every rule documented and tested before cutover.

Migration is not done when reports go live. It is done when your team can maintain them. We hand over architecture diagrams, deployment pipelines, DAX measure documentation, and a 4-hour training session with the people who will own Power BI on day 30.

The legacy license is the small number. The analyst hours, the rebuilt Excel sheets, and the delayed decisions are the large numbers. Move the sliders to your reality and we will show the full picture.

Who they are
A multi-site industrial components manufacturer running finance and operations reporting across two legacy business intelligence tools plus a heavy Excel layer used for the executive board pack every Monday.
Problem
Three concurrent legacy business intelligence licenses costing $184k a year, but the actual executive board pack was rebuilt manually in Excel every week because the legacy dashboards disagreed with the enterprise resource planning source numbers. Finance trusted only the manual spreadsheet. Operations leaders had stopped opening the dashboards entirely.
Solution and result
Inventory revealed 487 reports of which 312 had not been opened in 90 days. We rebuilt 175 onto a governed Power BI semantic model with one certified key performance indicator dictionary signed by finance, sales, and operations. Parallel run for 30 days delivered cent-perfect match against the enterprise resource planning system. Legacy renewal was cancelled in month eight.

Mid-market industrial manufacturer, engagement closed 2025
“The parallel run is the thing. We did not cancel anything until thirty days of green matches were in. Then it was an easy email to procurement.”
Most large Power BI partners price by report. We price by signed-off key performance indicator. Most partners cut over on a flag day. We run parallel for 30 days. Here is the line-by-line difference your procurement team will want.
First parallel run Power BI report lives inside 2 weeks of sign-off. Full migration of a typical mid-market estate (200 to 500 legacy reports rationalised to 80 to 175 Power BI artefacts) takes 8 to 12 weeks including the 30-day parallel run window before legacy decommission.
This is the most common discovery. Variances over zero point one percent trigger a root cause investigation. About 40 percent of the time the legacy report is the wrong one, and finance has been quietly correcting it in Excel for years. We document the variance, agree the correct formula with finance, and lock it as the certified measure going forward.
No. The inventory step typically shows that 50 to 65 percent of legacy reports have not been opened in 90 days. Those get a retire verdict. We migrate the ones that earn it. You pay only for the certified key performance indicators that go into the production semantic model.
The 3 to 5 hours is a minimum for sign-off and validation. Below that, the migration risk goes up because no one is verifying the certified measures match how your finance team actually computes them. We can scope a heavier Redefine involvement (managed validation), but we will not migrate without an internal sign-off owner. That is the line.
Every artefact we ship is documented in plain language. The semantic model is built in standard Tabular Editor patterns. Deployment is via Power BI deployment pipelines. DAX measures have descriptions. The handover includes a 4-hour live training and 30 days of hypercare with your nominated internal owner. If you ever want to switch partners, every artefact transfers cleanly.
Yes. For estates with large source data volumes or multiple source systems, Fabric (lakehouse plus shortcuts plus Direct Lake mode) is the better destination. We will recommend Power BI Premium per User, Premium per Capacity, or Fabric based on your data volume, refresh patterns, and existing Azure footprint. The semantic model layer is the same in all three cases.
Three questions. Pick the closest answer for each. The verdict updates live. We would rather tell you to wait six months than scope an engagement that fails.
