Summary
LaborSoft offers an HR case management platform used by professionals to manage complex labor and employee relations cases. Redefine Innovations redesigned its user experience and interface with one in-house team to improve usability, efficiency and satisfaction. The work ran a full, user-centered UX process: in-depth research into HR workflows, pain points and expectations; wireframes defining structure, navigation and information hierarchy; high-fidelity designs and interactive prototypes; usability testing with real users and iterative refinement against real-world use cases; and UI design guidelines and standards for consistency, accessibility and visual coherence. The redesigned system was more intuitive and efficient, earning positive feedback for ease of use and clarity and lifting adoption and satisfaction.
Note: the efficiency, adoption and satisfaction gains are documented qualitatively in the brief. All percentages, sample screens and testimonials elsewhere on this page are illustrative, replace each with verified detail before publishing.
The challenge
HR professionals using LaborSoft were doing some of the most demanding work in any organization, investigations, grievances, discipline, compliance, often under deadline and always with legal stakes. The interface wasn't helping them. It lacked clarity and efficiency, which made managing complex cases harder than it needed to be.
Navigation was a challenge, the design patterns were dated, and there was little usability feedback flowing back into the product. The combined effect was friction: slower work, lower adoption, and users who tolerated the tool rather than trusted it.
The brief was to redesign the experience to modern UX standards while staying true to how HR teams actually work, faster navigation, clearer data, and case handling that feels intuitive instead of in the way.
The approach
Two tracks ran together: learn how HR teams actually handle cases, and turn that understanding into a clearer, tested interface backed by real standards.
In-depth research into HR workflows, pain points and expectations, then wireframes that fix structure, navigation and information hierarchy before any visual design.
High-fidelity UI and interactive prototypes, validated through usability testing and iteration, then codified into UI guidelines for consistency and accessibility.
Design & UX · the product
UX research turned into one calm, professional design system across the platform — so HR and labor-relations teams move through complex cases without friction. (Brand colours and type follow LaborSoft’s guidelines. Representative — illustrative pending sign-off.)
A calm, professional type system in Archivo, in LaborSoft blue and steel slate with an innovation-orange accent, so complex labor and employee-relations cases stay readable, scannable and quick to act on.
Complex HR and labor cases laid out so the next action is always obvious, even on the hardest days.
A consistent, auditable system that stands up to scrutiny and the regulation HR teams answer to.
Cases, investigations and reporting in a single, coherent product instead of scattered tools.
The redesign · case management
The redesigned workspace puts the case list, status, priority and ownership where HR teams expect them, so finding and handling a case takes seconds, not searching. (Interface is a representative reconstruction of the design direction.)
What the redesign fixed
The process
This wasn't a reskin. Every stage fed the next, from understanding HR work to shipping a tested, standardized interface. (Sequence is representative of the engagement.)
Wireframe to high-fidelity
We settled layout, navigation and hierarchy in low-fidelity wireframes, where they're cheap to change, then brought them to life in high-fidelity UI. (Panels are representative of the fidelity progression.)

Usability testing
We watched HR professionals attempt real tasks, then turned what tripped them up into specific refinements. (Tasks and findings are representative of the testing process.)

UI guidelines & standards
To keep the platform coherent as it grows, we established UI standards for consistency, accessibility and clear data presentation, so quality holds across every screen. (Standards shown are representative.)
The results
The redesigned system was more intuitive and efficient, with HR professionals reporting faster case management and navigation, positive feedback on clarity and ease of use, and rising adoption and satisfaction. The brief describes these outcomes qualitatively; the figures below are illustrative and for the team to confirm.
The brief reports qualitative outcomes, improved efficiency in managing cases and navigating, positive feedback on ease of use and clarity, and increased adoption and satisfaction, but no published metrics. Every percentage on this page is a reasoned placeholder showing the kind of result the work targets. Replace each with the real number from analytics and research before this case study is published.
