Get a QuoteRedefine×Voltour Bikes · High-converting Shopify optimization
Voltour, a premium e-bike brand, had a great product and a Shopify store working against it, slow pages, checkout friction and an inconsistent mobile experience costing real sales every day. Redefine delivered a conversion-focused custom theme on Baymard-informed design, rebuilt the product pages and checkout to cut friction, and engineered speed into every template, for a faster, more consistent store built to scale.
Outcomes are reported qualitatively. Core Web Vitals, page-speed scores and payload figures on this page are illustrative targets pending verification.
Summary
Voltour Bikes, a premium outdoor and active e-bike brand, needed a Shopify storefront built for conversion, speed and scale. Redefine Innovations delivered a conversion-focused custom theme using Baymard-informed design, rebuilt the product pages and checkout to cut friction, and optimized performance across devices with image work, cleaner theme code and browser caching. SEO best practices and tested third-party integrations were part of the build, with pre-launch documentation and post-launch support. The result is a faster, more consistent store with a streamlined checkout and a scalable foundation for continued ecommerce growth.
Note: the qualitative outcomes (faster, more consistent, streamlined checkout, improved sales) and the four-to-two checkout reduction are documented in the brief. All Core Web Vitals, page-speed scores and payload figures on this page are illustrative targets, replace each with verified data before publishing.
The starting point
Voltour had a great product and real potential, but the existing setup created friction at every stage of the purchase journey. Buyers were dropping off before they had a fair chance to convert.
Unoptimized images, bloated theme code and no caching strategy meant slow pages on every device, and mobile, where most of the category's buyers shop, was worst of all. Design inconsistencies across templates, screen sizes and browsers chipped away at the trust a premium brand depends on.
The checkout added unnecessary steps, sequenced form fields poorly and left out trust signals at the payment moment. Buyers who made it that far were abandoning before completing the purchase. The store needed structure and speed, not a cosmetic refresh.
The approach
The rebuild wasn't a reskin. Every choice traced back to evidence about how buyers behave, what converts them, and what speed does to both.
A usability audit against established ecommerce principles came first, then Baymard-certified guidance shaped a product and checkout hierarchy that puts price and actions where buyers look, mobile-first.
Image optimization, cleaner code and browser caching, with Core Web Vitals treated as a conversion lever, not a vanity score, and consistent speed verified across the devices and browsers buyers actually use.
Design & UX · the storefront
Baymard-informed UX turned into a conversion-focused custom theme: a clear brand system, mobile-first layouts and spec-rich product pages built to sell premium e-bikes, not just display them. (Brand colours and primary type follow Voltour’s guidelines; supporting tones are derived. Representative — illustrative pending sign-off.)
A clean, geometric type system in Jost with a high-contrast charcoal-and-cyan palette, so spec-driven e-bike pages stay scannable, fast and confident.
Baymard-informed patterns put price, specs and trust signals where buyers expect them, so a considered, higher-ticket purchase feels easy.
The theme is engineered for speed across devices — a premium experience that loads slowly still loses the sale.
A consistent component system that holds up across models, configurations and a growing catalog without the theme breaking down.

The build process
Each phase built on the last, so the final store isn't just faster and better-looking, every decision traces back to how buyers actually make purchasing decisions.
Performance architecture
Every optimization targeted a specific bottleneck in how the store loaded and rendered. (The figures below are representative targets for a build of this scope, illustrative of the result the work aims for.)

Page-speed score (illustrative)

Core Web Vitals and scores are illustrative targets; Voltour's reported outcome is qualitative, faster, more consistent performance across devices. Replace each figure with verified data.
Checkout & conversion
The checkout was rebuilt around how buyers actually complete a purchase, fewer steps, a better field order, and trust signals at every payment moment. (Step counts are documented; the funnel rates are illustrative.)
What changed in the journey
Funnel percentages are illustrative; the four-to-two step reduction is documented. Replace the rates with the store's real checkout analytics before publishing.
Search, integrations & QA
A fast, high-converting store only pays off if buyers can find it and the team can run it. Search, integrations and cross-device QA were part of the build, not an afterthought.
Outcomes
The optimized Shopify store delivered a faster, more consistent experience across devices, a streamlined checkout and a scalable foundation. The qualitative outcomes and the four-to-two checkout reduction are documented; the figures below are illustrative targets for the team to confirm.
Voltour's confirmed results are qualitative, faster and more consistent performance across devices and browsers, a streamlined checkout, and improved sales and brand perception. The four-to-two checkout reduction is a documented structural change. Specific figures marked with an asterisk are illustrative of the work's targets, replace each with verified data before publishing.
Risk & trust
Is this the right engagement
“The difference in speed alone was visible immediately. But what really changed the business was the checkout, we were losing buyers at the payment step and didn't fully understand why until Redefine showed us what was broken. The new store converts at a meaningfully higher rate and it looks the part.”
“Every decision came with a reason, and the documentation means we can run the store ourselves. We're not locked into a retainer to keep it working.”
