The data silo problem

Why Sage sits in a silo while your other systems starve for its data

Sage holds your accounting ground truth: invoices, payments, inventory, customer credit terms. But without a custom Sage connector, nothing else can see it reliably. Every panel below shows a real system state we fix.

Client story

JWE Inc: fragmented ERP processes unified. Manual workload eliminated across inventory, orders, and customer data.

ERP Integration

JWE Inc operates in a complex, multi-channel B2B environment. Inventory, orders, and customer data were spread across multiple systems with fragmented processes creating errors, delays, and manual workload at every handoff.

The problem

Manual workflows across inventory management, order processing, and customer data synchronization. Every handoff between systems required human intervention. Errors compounded through the chain.

What we built

A custom Business Central environment integrated with the existing ecommerce stack. Customer data imported, invoices posted, and opening inventory established from day one. Automation workflows eliminated manual handoffs.

The result
0%

of manual order-to-fulfilment steps automated. Inventory, orders, and customer data synchronized across all platforms without manual intervention.

Architecture

How Redefine builds the Sage connector layer

Each Sage edition gets a different connection method. We choose at schema audit, build the adapter, and wrap it in the same queue, retry, and monitoring layer every integration gets.

Sage EditionConnection methodReal-time capableNotes
Sage IntacctREST XML APIFull webhook support. Best for complex multi-entity builds.
Sage X3REST APIModern REST surface. Supports all integration types natively.
Sage 200 or 300SDK + ODBCConfigurablePolling or event-bridge. Schema drift detection mandatory.
Sage 50 or 100Custom SDK bridgeScheduled syncNo native API. We build an ODBC and SDK wrapper. Robust but requires 5-minute polling minimum.

Why custom integration wins for Sage

Custom Sage connector versus using an iPaaS out-of-the-box connector

Zapier, Celigo, and Boomi all have native Sage connectors. They work for simple cloud-only scenarios. Here is where custom integration wins for Sage specifically.

Capability
iPaaS (Zapier or Celigo or Boomi)
Redefine custom
Works with Sage 50 and Sage 100 (no native REST API)
Cloud products only
Schema survives Sage version update silently
Custom business logic: pricing rules, approval flows, multi-step transformations
Workarounds required
Cost model: no ongoing subscription to keep integration live
Dead-letter queues and custom retry on failure, not just basic retry
Direct engineer access for 30 days post go-live
Common questions

Sage integration: what you need to know

Which Sage versions do you integrate?

We build integrations for Sage 50, Sage 100, Sage 200, Sage 300, Sage Business Cloud, Sage Intacct, and Sage X3. Each product has a different API surface and we select the right connection method, REST, ODBC bridge, flat-file, or direct database, based on your Sage edition. The schema audit on day one confirms the right approach before any build starts.

How long does a Sage ERP integration take?

A single Sage connector, for example Sage to Shopify or Sage to Salesforce, typically goes live in 12 to 18 days from signed brief. Multi-system builds connecting Sage to ecommerce, customer relationship management, 3PL, and business intelligence simultaneously run 6 to 10 weeks. The go-live date is confirmed in the proposal before any work starts. See our ERP integration services for broader ERP context.

Does Sage 50 support Sage API integration?

Sage 50 does not expose a native REST API. We build integrations using the Sage 50 SDK, ODBC connections, or scheduled flat-file bridges depending on what the target system requires. Every connector includes schema drift detection so Sage desktop updates do not break your pipeline silently. This is the core reason custom Sage integration outperforms iPaaS tools for Sage 50 users.

Why not use Celigo, Zapier, or Boomi for Sage integration?

iPaaS platforms have pre-built Sage connectors but only work reliably with Sage cloud products. They cannot handle ODBC-only Sage editions, custom business logic, or complex multi-step transformations without significant workarounds. Custom Sage connector builds cost more upfront but are less expensive at scale because there are no ongoing subscription fees and no connector breakages from Sage updates. We detail this comparison in the differentiation section above.

What does Sage integration cost?

Single Sage connector endpoints start from $3,200 fixed-price. Full builds connecting Sage to ecommerce, customer relationship management, 3PL, and business intelligence start from $14,000. Architecture audits are $800 and credited toward any build. There are no ongoing subscription fees for the integration itself, you own what we build. Optional maintenance retainers start from $400 per month for schema monitoring and updates.

Is this the right engagement

Is this the right Sage integration engagement for you?

Not sure? Tell us your Sage edition and what needs to connect. We will be straight with you about whether it fits.

Good fit

  • You run any Sage edition (50 through X3) and need it connected to ecommerce, customer relationship management, 3PL, or analytics.
  • Your team manually exports, reconciles, or re-enters Sage data into other systems.
  • You tried an iPaaS Sage connector and it broke on a Sage update or failed on edge cases.
  • You want a fixed scope, fixed price, and a go-live date you can plan around.

Not the right fit

  • You are evaluating whether to stay on Sage or migrate to a different ERP entirely.
  • Your Sage already has working native connectors for all the systems you need.
  • You want someone to implement or configure Sage itself, modules, chart of accounts, payroll, rather than connect it.
  • You want an open-ended development retainer with no defined deliverables or go-live date.

Not sure? Tell us your situation and we will be straight with you.
