Migrate Magento to Shopify. Your data and rankings move with you.
Redefine migrates Magento and Adobe Commerce stores to Shopify with full data transfer, custom module replacement, search engine optimization redirect mapping, and a Shopify 2.0 rebuild built for performance from day one.

Magento-specific migration trust metrics
Magento works. Until it doesn't. Then the cost compounds fast.
PHP version upgrades, extension conflicts, and hosting overhead absorb budget that should go toward growth. The total cost of running Magento at scale exceeds the platform's visible price by a factor of three.
We were spending more time keeping Magento running than building the features our customers wanted. Moving to Shopify Plus gave our dev team their roadmap back.

How Redefine's Magento migration differs from a typical agency approach
Most migration agencies treat Magento as a data export problem. Redefine treats it as a full-stack technical engagement with source-platform depth and delivery accountability at every phase.
What your Magento migration includes from audit to go-live
Magento migrations are more complex than most platforms. Every phase below addresses a specific Magento-specific risk. Expand any phase to see exactly what is included.
- Magento version and PHP stack inventory
- Full custom module and extension listing
- EAV database schema analysis and mapping
- URL key structure and catalog URL mapping
- Risk register and mitigation plan delivered
- Migration brief with week-by-week plan
- Products, configurable variants, and attributes
- Customer accounts, addresses, and segments
- Order history and invoice records
- Content management system pages, blocks, and static content
- Product attributes and custom options
- Full reconciliation report before go-live
Every Magento module has a replacement strategy mapped before the project scope is signed. No functionality gaps are discovered post-launch.
Your Magento theme is not migrated. A new Shopify 2.0 theme is built from scratch using sections-and-blocks architecture. This is the most common place other migrations fail.
Magento uses configurable URL keys for categories and products. Every URL, including layered navigation and multi-store paths, is mapped to its Shopify equivalent with a 301 redirect, validated in staging, and monitored post-launch.
- 30-point pre-launch validation in staging
- Data reconciliation approval before DNS change
- Confirmed rollback plan before cutover
- DNS cutover under 15 minutes, zero downtime
- Search Console sitemap submission on day one
- 30-day uptime, ranking, and redirect monitor
30 stores. 1 million inventory items. Revenue scaled from $14M to $90M.
Enterprise promotional apparel brand operating 30 storefronts with over one million inventory items across multiple backend platforms and sales channels.
Parsons Kellogg needed to scale beyond $80M in annual revenue but existing systems lacked unified visibility across 30 stores, over one million inventory items, and multiple backend platforms. Manual processes, limited analytics, and fragmented integrations slowed decision-making, constrained warehouse operations, and blocked scalability at the speed the business needed.
- Fragmented systems, no single source of truth for inventory
- Manual warehouse workflows reducing operational throughput
- Limited analytics blocking executive decisions across 30 storefronts
Custom Power BI dashboards were integrated with a custom ecommerce solution and Dynamics 365 enterprise resource planning to centralize inventory, order, and customer data across all 30 stores in real time. A headless ecommerce architecture centralized inventory and content management across channels. RESTful APIs connected Dynamics 365 enterprise resource planning, Dynamics 365 customer relationship management, Power BI, mobile applications, and third-party systems in a unified, scalable commerce foundation.

Magento versus Shopify: the platform differences that affect your revenue
Not every platform switch is worth the effort. For Magento and Adobe Commerce brands at growth stage, these nine dimensions make the commercial case for migration decisive.

Magento to Shopify migration questions answered
Most Magento migrations take 8 to 12 weeks from audit to go-live, depending on catalog size, custom module complexity, and theme requirements. Magento 1 migrations run 6 to 10 weeks. Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) migrations with complex B2B catalog or custom extension dependencies run 10 to 16 weeks. Redefine delivers a specific week-by-week timeline after the Discovery audit, not a range estimate before seeing your store.
Yes. Redefine migrates both Magento 1 and Magento 2 (Adobe Commerce) stores to Shopify. Magento 1 reached end-of-life in June 2020, meaning these stores receive no security updates. Migration from Magento 1 is treated as urgent from a security standpoint. The migration process is the same, and Magento 1 stores have fewer complex extension dependencies than Magento 2, which can reduce timeline.
Magento extensions do not run on Shopify. Every custom module is assessed during the Discovery phase and mapped to one of three outcomes: a native Shopify App Store equivalent, a custom-built Shopify app, or a Shopify feature that replaces the module entirely. This mapping is completed before the project scope is signed, so there are no functionality gaps discovered post-launch.
Shopify Plus has native B2B capabilities including company accounts, custom price lists per company, net terms (net-30, net-60), purchase order workflows, and draft order management. For brands migrating from Adobe Commerce B2B, Redefine maps existing B2B catalog rules and customer group pricing to Shopify Plus equivalents during the Discovery phase.
Most brands migrating from Magento 2 or Adobe Commerce are suitable for Shopify Plus. Shopify Plus is recommended for stores doing over $1M in annual revenue, using B2B features, requiring Checkout extensibility, or managing multiple storefronts. Brands migrating from Magento 1 with simpler catalog structures may be well-served by standard Shopify. Redefine recommends the correct tier after the Discovery audit.
Honest fit-check
- Your Magento maintenance costs exceed your feature development budget and platform complexity is slowing your team.
- You are running Magento 1, which reached end-of-life in 2020 and receives no security updates.
- You have a catalog under 500K products and less than five custom B2B price-list tiers.
- You want your search engine optimization rankings protected with URL-level redirect mapping, not just category-level.
- Your catalog exceeds 2 million products and relies on Magento's layered navigation depth for enterprise buyer UX.
- Your store has 30+ bespoke PHP modules with deeply custom business logic not available via any Shopify app.
- You need to be live in under six weeks with no QA window for a catalog with complex EAV attributes.
- You have no stakeholder bandwidth for a Discovery audit and want to skip the pre-migration technical review entirely.
